Powell's School Church of England (VA) Primary School

Our Church

At Powell's, we are fortunate enough to be situated a very short distance away from the historic Church of St. John the Baptist in the heart of Cirencester. The church is a large and beautiful building that we visit multiple times a year to gather and worship together with our families. Our worships held there include a Harvest service, Christingle service and Easter service, as well as a special leavers' service for our Year 6 children each July. These services are a much-valued opportunity for parents, carers and siblings to share in the children's act of worship and continuous spiritual growth.

Powell's children also enjoy several further connections with the church throughout the year, such as frequent visits from Canon Graham Morris, its lead clergy member, and his wider team. Each year, a Year 6 child is chosen as the "Child Bishop": a very important position that further strengthens the flourishing connection between church and school. The Child Bishop has frequent roles within both regular Sunday morning services and worships based in the school itself.
