STEM Day at the Royal International Air Tattoo
On the last day of school, Michael, Rupert, George and I were lucky enough to go to the Air Tattoo with our catapults. When we arrived we dropped them off at the catapult zone. George and I went and did a Virtual Reality quiz about GCHQ and a space walk. At eleven o’clock we registered and built a meccano drag racer. Michael and Rupert made a mars rover. In the middle of that Tim Peake came along answered questions and signed books. It was fascinating listening to Tim Peake. Michael asked the question from Powell’s. Then we all had lunch and more of a look around. There were lots of VR games and challenges to try out. After that we did the catapult launching to different planets. We then had to try to launch our catapult as far as we could. We got 8.8m and came second. At the end of the day Tim Peake came back to present the trophies to the winners. We didn’t win, however, we were delighted to receive a bucket of meccano for school. We were really proud to represent Powell’s School at the Air Tattoo.
