![]() This is the homepage of Powell's C of E Primary School in Cirencester in Gloucestershire. Our School is an Aided Church School, with a long and proud tradition. Our roots go back to 1714 in the funding of the Blue School for boys, followed in 1722 by the Yellow School for girls. The amalgamation of the two in 1876 saw the foundation of Powell's School, taking our name from Rebecca Powell who helped to lay the foundations for much of the early education in Cirencester. The school has gradually increased in size over the years and we are now a two form entry Primary school with over 420 pupils on roll. We have close links with the Diocesan Board of Education, and the local Parish Church. We pride ourselves in offering our pupils a first class, all round education. In addition to our high standards academically, we offer a wide range of sporting opportunities, enjoying sports partnerships with Deer Park School and Cotswold Leisure Centre, and we also have an on-going technology partnership with BCF Designs. We have an Artsmark Gold award and offer specialist teaching in art, dance and music. We have our own orchestra and a large choir of over 100 pupils. We are also an 'Eco School' with a Green Flag award, and have recently been awarded Healthy Schools status. ![]() The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We are extremely proud of our history and traditions. However, we are an innovative and forward thinking school with much to offer the pupils of today and tomorrow. Come to visit us and see for yourself!
